Appropriate Bat

Equipment

Hello,

I have a Tibhar bat with Tibhar's Volcano X rubber ( 2mm) bought recently. I feel a great lose of control.

My defensive strokes got hard and worse, much worse. However, my attacking strokes got better, with more spin and speed, altough harder to achieve also.

I'm not a pro, but I really want to develop my game. Do you think that I should keep up with this bat, or that this means that I'm not ready to an offensive bat and that I should return to my previous bat, with more control, but less spin and speed?

With my previous cheap bat ( Rucanor Ogi Ura ) I was having more sensibility when i hit the ball.

thanks,

 Sérgio

Hi Sergio,

I would give it a bit longer.  Let yourself get used to the new bat.  After a month, if you are still finding the same thing, then you can either go back to your old bat or you can change to a slower bat and rubbers.

Work on your technique and make sure that is correct.  By doing this you may be able to adjust better to the new faster bat as well.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
