Hi Coach

I need to know what is the bat angle during the backhand chop I already saw the video but was confused with the bat angle also sometimes I miss the ball when chopping.Thanks!

Hi Michael,

The angle of the bat for the backhand chop varies depending on the amount of spin and speed of your opponents shot.

If there is more topspin or speed your angle is more vertical and the stroke is also more vertical. If there is less speed or spin your stroke and angle become more horizontal.  This allows you to put more forward momentum on the ball to get it over the net.

There is not one angle that you need to get right it is about adjusting to each ball that your opponent gives you.

If you are missing the ball the best thing to focus on is watching the ball really carefully all the way to the bat.  Track the ball throughout the rally and you will find yourself being able to hit the ball more consistently.
