Strokes
My back hand is getting better on some back spins and alot of top spins. I am noticing now that on the serve coming to me(LEFTY) with back spin that is low and long i cannot return it with top spin. Im not sure if im not dipping low enough or what but i do notice that my start position is not low as in your videos but more parallel with where the ball is coming. Also i am notice that my finish postion isnt up really but more up and forward.
Now my forearm, geez i cannot explain what i am doing wrong here. I just know that i am sending it to the net or high and right off the table. This is an issue because those who i play know this and continue to go to that side on me. Also i have a friend who serves a low and long ball with back and side spin to my forehand side. alot of the time it skims the edge of the table and out of my reach and others my forehand sends it straight to the net. If i manage to get it over, i end up setting him up for a fast topspin return to my back hand side opposite side of the table. Also i am paisa23 from all the emails i have been sending you guys. Thanks in advance.
Hi Wilder,
It sounds like you need to make your stroke more vertical. So as you suggested, start lower and finish higher with your shot. Make sure that your forearm is going in a straight line not floating around. Really focus on the start and finish positions of your bat. If you do these as we show in the lesson on the Backhand Loop Off Backspin you will start to get the stroke correct.
