Backhand topspin

Strokes

My forehand topspin is very good but my backhand topspin is not developing.  For 2 and a half years i am practicing .  I go to my club  for 3 days in a week.  The other four days its holiday in the club.  This long gap is not making my BH topspin consistent.  As for example on 12 th of this month I played against my coach and defeated him 11-7.  This is because my BH topspin was connecting very well.   At least 6 out of 8 shots connected properly.  Now when I came from the club after a two day gap 4 out of around 20 shots fell.  Sir I want to know when I don't have a board how to practice this shot.  This has become my favorite shot but I cant develop it.  It's becoming very frustrating.

Hi Aishik,

Persevere with it.

You can do some shadow swings in front of a mirror in the days you have off.  This will help you.

The more you practice it the better it will become.  Sometimes these things take longer.  Just make sure you are doing the stroke correctly and it will get there.

Anticipation

How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
