How to Improve using Plain rubber whether to use a Maxmium thick sponge or what do you suggest for back hand topspin.

The type of rubber to use will depend on your development. To start with you want to use something a little slower to develop your control on the backhand topspin. As you progress you can start to use a thicker rubber.
Make sure your technique is correct before progressing.
