Serving
Hi,
I have been trying the Reverse Pendulum Serve (similar to Zhang Jike's style) but it always ends up going diagonally across the table to the receiver's backhand (If he's a right hand player). When I try to place the ball to the receiver's forehand for a stronger 3rd ball attack, the ball ends up having not nearly as much spin as it takes going to the backhand side.
So what's the technique to place the ball towards the receiver's forehand while using the reverse pendulum serve?
Hi Zohair,
Try to alter the direction of your racket on the contact but keep the same contact on the ball. At the moment you are probably finishing with the bat pointing towards the far net post. Now try to finish pointing at the middle of the net but keep the brushing contact on the ball that you are getting with the other serve.
You can also initially change the leg position to face slightly towards the forehand corner.
