Watching the ball as it approaches the paddle

Strokes

In the videos, it seems like you (Alois) really watch the ball coming towards the paddle: your head turns to keep the ball in front of it, your body also but not nearly as much, and you don't start looking back to your opponent until the ball contacts the paddle. Am I seeing this correctly? I don't think I watch the ball all the way to the paddle, but stop before it gets there. Am I missing balls because of this?

Hi Eric,

The longer you can track the ball the better.  This will give you the best information as to where the ball is and what it is doing in terms of spin and curve.

Learning to play the forehand topspin (also known as the forehand loop) in table tennis is one of the biggest steps forward you can take with your game. The topspin will cause the ball to dip down allowing you to hit the ball harder yet still maintaining consistency.
