Ball wont curve in the table in sidespin serve

Hello Mr. Alois,

As you said in one of your previous videos i can now generate enough spin to get the ball bounce back to me but i still cant get the ball to curve during the serve and i think its the wrong position I'm  contacting the ball during the serve.

My coach easily generated side spin with my bat but i just don't seem to understand the right contact for the side spin serve.

Can you just explain to me whether i should brush the ball perfectly horizontally on the left side of the ball (I'm right handed) to get the ball to curve on the table during the serve.

Hi Sachintha,

Yes try to intact the ball on the left side and brush it forward.  You can also think about brushing across the back of the ball and get your bat moving in towards your body.

Make sure the end of your bat is pointing towards the ground to get the angle of the bat right.
