Beating a Blade Before Gluing Rubber Sheet

Hello,

I recently bought a new set of blade and rubbers. I glued and cut the rubber sheets myself, and have started to play with it. I am quite satisfied.

But now one of my friend who plays TT on a professional level tells me that I should have beaten the blade to get a better sense from the bat. By beating the blade he means hitting rallies with only the blade for 5 minutes or so and then proceeding with the gluing process.

I wanted to know if it makes a difference, because in about the 3-5 videos about gluing that I watched on YouTube, there were no such mentions.

Sincerely,
Arnab Ghosh

Hi Arnab,

I don't know anyone that does that.  I would just leave the rubbers on your racket and keep playing.

Thank you for the confirmation. These local club folks, I tell you, are filled with superstitions. And the worst part is they don't see reason if you try to explain it to them. Instead they get annoyed and avoid you. So I have no choice but to keep quite and mind my own business (practice hard).
