Being too focused on returning the ball

Strategy

Hi Alois. I noticed that sometimes in my practice matches, I keep focusing on getting my opponents' ball back onto their side of the table and totally forget about finding tactics for the matches. How do you manage both at the same time? should the tactic be thought of before the point so that our body is clear of what to do subconsciously during the point?

Hi Jasper,

Part of your tactics can include the parts of the table you are aiming for not just the whole table.  The better you get the smaller the target area can be for you to aim at.

When we are starting to learn, the whole table can be the focus, however the more we develop the smaller parts of the table that we are able to hit.

When you re thinking about your tactics before a point try to be more specific with the areas you are aiming for.
