I noticed that most male chinese players tend to have a dhs rubber for the forehand and a butterfly for the backhand. For example Chen Qi has a Neo Hurricane 3 for fh and a Tenergy 64 for backhand, Ma Lin has a Skyline 2 for forehand and a Bryce Speed for bh, ma long has a Skyline 3 for fh and Tenergy 05 for back. So I was wondering if there was a special connection for these and if I should get them or if you need to reach the professional level for this to work.

Hi Oliver,

Rubber is always a matter of preference and feel.  At the highest level it may make a little difference but it should not be the major focus.

The rubber that the Chinese national team gets is a little different to what is available commercially as well.

What do you use at the moment?

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
