Blade

Equipment

Coach, I am about to put together a new paddle.  I'm using Nitaku Fastarc S1 1.8mm, and Flyatt soft 2mm.  I'm using an old blade, Butterfly Firehand that I used in college oh so many years ago 1978.  My question, the blade has some small gouges from removing really old rubber, and its not quite totally flat.  Weight is 85.  Am I just being nostalgic?  Should I use a newer blade?  Currently I'm using Mark V and Sriver on a cheap Stiga blade.

Looking forward to learning from you.

Hi Larry,

I would give the old blade a go.  The blades don't really wear out.  They tend to get slightly softer and slower but not a lot.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
