Hi Alois.

I need some explanations for these bat combinations.

1. Stiff blades with soft rubber

2. Stiff blades with hard rubber

3. Flexible blade with hard rubber

4. Flexible blade with soft rubber

Can you tell me about the advantages and disadvantages of each combination ? And what play style suit the most for each combi?

Thank you...

Hi Ernest,

The stiffer blades tend to be faster.  It is harder to feel the contact on the ball when the wood is harder. The softer woods on the other hand tend to be a little slower but you can feel the contact better because the ball stays on the bat for a little longer and there is more vibration on contact.

The harder rubbers mean the ball comes out very quickly and so again it is hard to feel the contact compared to the softer rubbers which will keep the ball in contact for longer.

It is a matter of your own preferences as to which combination you go for.  See what feels right for you.  You may be able to borrow a few friends bats and try them out before you make a purchase.
