I am an intermediate beginner and have been looking to upgrade to a better bat. However all the custom bats are like £50+. Which is a bit expensive for me, I am only 15 so I'm not earning any money. I have been hearing that premade bats are terrible, so I'm reluctant to buy one. Although I have found a premade bat for £25 which looks decent.

If you know of any good quality penhold grip bats, or anywhere I could purchase a cheaper custom bat. I would be satisfied. I play penhold as you might have noticed earlier.

Thank you for listening!

Hi Joe,

I don’t have any recommendations for a Penhold racket that is pre-made.  The main thing to look for is the quality of the rubber.

If you find anything send me an email and I will have a look at it before you buy it.

Does the wood have anything to do with performance of the paddle?

Yes. What blade you get determines how fast or accurate your shots will be. A carbon fibre blade is a lot faster than a 5 ply wooden blade, but is a lot harder to control. So depending on your playing style the wood can quite dramatically alter you performance.

Hi Chris,

With the pre-made rackets there is not a lot of difference in the effect of the blades the bigger effect is the rubber.
