Strokes
Hi Sir, I have been playing table tennis for the last year and a half.. I brought a Table about a year ago.. but the table seems to be on the slower side.. The ball grips alot and spins too much.. it is almost impossible to hit topspin against backspin or chop.. i saw your videos on how to hit the topspin against backspin but that also doesn't seem to work either.. the ball hits the net or just dies on the table after hitting the bat.. so can you please suggest some techniques on how do I lift the ball so that it goes on the other side...

Prashant Keswani
Hi Prashant,
It could be that your rubber has no grip on the ball if the stroke is not lifting the ball over the net.
Try rubbing your finger across the rubber. If it feels slippery then the rubber is probably dead.
If not, think about the angle your bat is on during the stroke. Open the face of the bat up to allow you to lift the ball higher.
Try these two things and then let me know.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
