Hi,

I play this guy in the club that I play at and  every time I do a good topspin back hand or forehand he blocks it. It is hard to win the point if he just blocks all my good shots. Should I change the way I play or what should I do.

Thanks Matt

Hi Matt,

Sounds like this guy is a good blocker.  Sometimes faster is not better.  Try giving him some backspin shots to deal with.  Also if you are topspinning, try varying the speed and spin on the ball.  Sometimes less speed is better because it gives them time to have to think about the shot.

ometimes these types of players don't like it if you give them backspin because they may not as good a topsin stroke.

Remember, vary, the spin, speed and placement. They are your 3 tactical tools.
