Hello coach. I have been used to a particular kind of stroke. It’s holding the bat slightly towards the left side. The problem is whenever i hit the ball with forehand it always go to the left side and most of the time outside the table. Since i was used to it it’s quite difficult to change it. And also i have the habit of always moving towards tha table while playing. These styles are difficult to change.

Hi Pazhamalai,

Technique can be difficult to change but it is possible.  Especially if you are seeing that the technique is leading to errors.

In training focus on making the changes.  As you start ot feel comfortable with the change, start to use it in a more open situation, such as a rally and then you can use it in practice games and eventually bring it into a real match situation.

Change is difficult but the alternative is to stay at the same level.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
