Strokes
Hi Alois,
A couple of podcasts ago you mentioned how the correct technique is important to learn as it is optimized to be effective at the highest level.
I wonder if you have noticed, that Chen Weixing has a forehand counterloop action which is in a sort of sweeping motion that looks nothing like the conventional action.
How does it work for him ? Does this mean that there are other actions (only slightly varied from text-book) that can be fine tuned to work at the highest level as well ?
Thanks, Cheers !
Hi Azhar,
Yes Chen Weixing is usually playing a counterspin against a heavy topspin ball so his stroke is specific for that type of ball.
Topspin-to-topspin rallies are fast, dynamic, and can be the key to winning more points! 🏓🔥 Learning how to control these exchanges will help you stay on the attack and put pressure on your opponent.
✅ How to adjust your technique for topspin rallies (compared to topspin vs. block)
✅ Why your stroke should be more forward and how to generate dip with topspin
✅ Tactical strategies – Mix up speed, spin, and placement for better control
✅ How to train this stroke effectively, even without a strong training partner

But isnt it different from the stroke of other players who play against the same heavy topspin ball ?
A little but the basics are the same.
