Serving
Hi Pingskills! Recently I've changed my bat. Yinhe Moon and XIOM Vega Elite (both are euro rubbers) from Palio Amigo (chinese rubbers on both side). So when I try out my spinny serves, I realize that both euro rubbers are acting weirdly. I made a backspin serve and it goes into the net (usually i can make it low and spinny with my Palio Amigo), when making a side spin serve it goes very fast but the spin is not as strong as my old rubber(Amigo). How can I overcome that? Now I just need to make my serve more spinny but what I realize is brushing the ball doesn't help at all (unless it is a chinese rubber).
Hi Xariuz,
Let the ball sink into the sponge a little more than you are used to . Just give it time and keep practicing your serves. In a few months you won't know the difference.
We show you how to get some backspin on the serve and a good way to start to get this to be effective in your game.

How can I actually 'sink' the ball into the sponge?
Open up the blade a little so the ball is hitting into the sponge more than brushing across the surface of the rubber.

It IS possible to spin with euro rubbers. Personally I like using chinese rubbers to serves (hurricane 3) as it is more tacki (spin) and control. I find it a bit hard to get a lot of spin with non- tacky rubbers. I think you might want to change the forehand to chinese rubber (depends on your style) and backhand with euro rubber (fast and easier)

I have never used Chinese rubbers before, and my serves are still pretty spinny, so I guess it's just a matter of getting accustomed to the new rubbers, and adapting your technique. The good news is that once you do get used to Euro/Japanese rubbers, you will also be able to get a bit more action on the ball - so keeping it low and spinny, but also quite fast ;)
Cheers,
Sam
