Equipment
Hi Coach, is it a bad idea to play with hard rubbers if i am intermediate player, i am very motivated to learn and improve. I want to play with DNA platinum H on both sides, XH version is too hard i think. My blade is stiga infinity VPS V. Is it doable or is it maybe a better idea to go for DNA platinum M on both sides. I play offensive game with topspin, smash, punch and agressive pushes. Most of people say that softer versions are better for learning but i think that if i play with soft rubber or even medium, quality of the ball is a bit worse. I feel like it is just easier but not better to play with softer rubbers. If i play with H rubbers it is harder to play but i am able to see my mistakes sooner and i can adjust my strokes and learn faster.
Hi Vjekoslav,
It's great to hear that you are so motivated to learn and improve your table tennis game. As an intermediate player, it is important to find a balance between comfort and power when it comes to choosing rubber. It seems that you have already found a good blade (Stiga Infinity VPS V) to suit your playing style. You can generate good spin and power with both soft and hard rubbers. Find the one that you feel most comfortable with.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
