Hi Felix,

One simple drill is to get someone to topspin the ball one to your forehand and one to the backhand.  You can chop both of these balls moving between the two positions.

You will get some rhythm with your forehand and then you can concentrate on your backhand.

It is important to keep things simple until you master the strokes.  Repetitive training drills are what is required to get the stroke better.

Thanks for the kind words about the site.  One day I might be able to coach you somewhere.

Perhaps some of our readers who are defenders can help out with some tips for you as well.

#32 - Effective Returns

In this training plan we put together all of the different returns we've learnt and focus on producing an effective return. You should be aiming to topspin all long serves and then weighing up your options on the short serve. A good short push is a great option but you also need some variation with either a flick or a long fast push. Go out and put this training plan into action and work on improving your return.
