Strokes

My teacher-in-charge told my competitive team that we will be coaching the non-competitive players for the next few weeks. In the first week today it was a bit of a disaster, I had a very difficult time trying to teach them the correct motion for the forehand drive. So do you have any suggestions on how to hone their skills?

Hi Jasper,

I would try to follow the basics that we show you in the tutorials on the basic skills in the Beginner Basic Strokes section.  Hopefully this helps you out.

Anticipation

How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.

Oh well the first thing you mentioned in the introduction of the Beginner Basic Strokes is about the racket needing some grip. All the beginner players' racket are those premade rackets found at sports shops.
