Hi Raymond,

This comes from improved technique.  If you work on your technique you will improve your ability to get the ball on the table more.

Don't forget to use the PingSkills Consistency Chart to keep a track of your progress.

Don’t get discouraged if it does not work too fast. Many times we forget that we have to cooperate with the person on the other side of the table. The possibility of mistake doubles and any correcting needs a better skilled player. A week ago i tried to get 100 backhands in a row with a similarly skilled person. It was nearly impossible. Then a quite good player wanted to show my practice partner what its all about. In first try we had seemingly easy 100 backhands. I’m sure, if my partner would try those with this guy, and not with me, it would be easy 100 too, cause good players always clean up the “dirt” while they playing. This is also the reason why we feel playing better against good players, and often awful agains weaker players despite result.

I think the main problem in not getting consistent is the urge to overpace shots.

Hi Raymond,

Take a look at the tutorial on the Backhand Block.  I think this will help you.
