HI, pingskills i always have a problem with people who does a sidespin serve,i either hit the ball at the net or it goes downthe floor.do you have any suggestions to counter a sidespin serve.
Hi Justin,
Use the angle of your bat to change the direction you send the ball. Use your bat like a rudder.
So you say that the ball goes into the net or onto the floor. This means you need to face the bat more upwards so that the ball goes higher. At the same time you need to angle the bat to counter the sidespin. So angle it so that it counters the direction the sidespin is taking it.
If you are an aggressive player you still will have times when your opponent attacks first. In these situations you can try to counter attack and this is easier if you are a step back from the table. In this video we teach you how to recognise when to take that step back and how to do it. Hopefully this will get you into a good position to make that counter topspin. Good luck!
