Counterhit & spinny rubbers

Equipment

Hi guys,

I have a question about simple and fast forehand counter hit.  I had fast rubbers, TIBHAR Rapid Soft 2.0 and pretty fast blade.  I was able to counter hit with a lot of precision and strength.  After switching to DONIC Baracuda 2.0 with a bit slower blade, I'm able to loop a lot easier, but I've got an extra issue now.

I miss a lot of forehand counter hits. In order to adjust arm movement, I need to hit slower and shorter in order to score, which leads to a lot of misses.  I'm not willing to give up strong looping in exchange for counter hit.

I'd like to have the best of two worlds, loop and good old smash win :)

What can you advice me to do in this case? Thank you!

Hi Ivan,

I would persevere with the rubber and try to develop better control with the counterhit.  This will come with practice.  As we often say, take it one step down by hitting the ball slower and with more consistency.  It will get there.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Thank you, Alois.

It makes sense to me, since good counter hit is all about the speed,

regardless of how I develop that speed - with hand or rubber help.

If I develop speed and control with new rubber, I'll have the same result,

but with some arm power savings. :) Tnx!
