A question from the Netherlands.

For starters i want to thank you for all the coaching en video instructions. We use them frequently.

I have the ambition to develop a diploma program, for basic starters, for players ready to start competition, for competition level players with few year experience, etc.

Aim: to have a clear trainingpath for player and trainer, and to motivate the player.

Question 1: Where can we draw the line for minimum skill level for a first level diploma for basic starters. Please define the skills you must have to qualify for the diploma?

Question 2: I want to incorporate some basic theoretical knowledge about rules and regulations. What are the facts rules and regulation one should minimal know to start his first competition?

Hi Hans,

I would follow the basic outline we have with our Tutorials of the Strokes and Techniques section.  The Basic Strokes, the Intermediate Strokes and the Advanced Strokes as the 3 levels to start with.

We also have a Rules section that you can use as a stater for what they need to know.

The Controller

Most drills involve one person performing the exercise and the other placing the ball as required by the exercise. We call this person placing the ball the controller. When you are acting as the controller it is a great opportunity to practice your blocking and concentration. As blocking is an important part of the game you should be 100% focused at this time. You also owe it to your training partner to be blocking effectively so they get the most from their exercise.
