Do I need an ITTF approved table

Hello sir, I am still a beginner at table tennis and I joined a club about 3 months ago but I also want to practice alone at home when the club is not open, I am planning to buy a table tennis robot (Robo-Pong 2055) but I am kind of unsure about the table.

In my club all the tables are "STIGA premium roller" that you can find on this list of ITTF tournament approved tables here.

https://www.ittf.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Table_2019_01.pdf

Do I need to buy one of those in order to have accurate bounces when I am practicing? Since ITTF approved tables are really expensive I was wondering if I really need one or if you could give me a suggestion on which to buy because I don't want to overpay for a table that I am only going to use at home.

Sorry for the long question and thanks for the great website coach!

Hi Jonathan,

You don't need an ITTF approved table but there are a few things to watch out for when buying a table.

The main thing with quality is the thickness of the top surface.

Take a look at our tutorial in the Choosing Equipment section on Choosing a Table Tennis Table.  This will give you the main things to consider.

Good luck with your choice.
