Excessive time taking before serving

Hi,

If i take too much time before serving (e.g 5-10 seconds) that causes opponent distract and lose momentum; is it illegal?

Hi Mohammad,

The rule is that play should be continuous.  So if you are taking too much time then the umpire can ask you to hurry up.  There is no fixed time set out as being legal like in Tennis for example.

Doubles Serving Rules

In this video we go over the somewhat complicated rules of serving for doubles in table tennis. There are a couple of extra rules for doubles that you don't apply to singles. In doubles you always serve from the right hand box diagonally to your opponent's right hand box. Each player has 2 serves each. If you've just been receiving then it's your turn to serve next.
