Serving
Hello sir,
To bring variation in my pendulum serve , I do a long fast pendulum serve on either extreme side of the table. But most of my opponents are able to receive it properly. I think that my serve is not that fast . But when I serve a bit more fast, the ball goes off the table without touching it on the opponent's side . Should I add topspin to my serve to make it consistent ? Will adding topspin increase the speed of my serve along with consistency?
Thanks in advance

Hi Shivam,
Perhaps the one thing to work on first is getting the ball lower. It is surprising how much difference the height of the ball over the net makes to the ability to serve fast.
Put a string over the net like we show you in the lesson on Keeping The Ball Low and see how high the ball is going. You can also add a little bit more topspin but not too much as it slows the flight of the ball down a bit.
Question actions
The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.
