Strokes
Hi, coach!
One of club-mates says that Quadri Aruna's FH topspin is recognized as one of the best FH topspins. Is it true? It looks like he hit the ball from its behind. Is such topspin more powerful? Recently I played an opponent who was returning all of my FH topspins. So, I was loosing badly. Then I started to hit the ball from its behind. Surprisingly, then he couldn't return my FH topspins. His blocks went off the table or he couldn't react. Then it worked also for other opponents. I felt this type of topspin has more power and speed. How do you think, is it because of the power? Or it is just because of changing the ball placement?
Should I try to do every topspin like this even if it takes more energy?
Best wishes, Ardak
Hi Ardak,
It is a particular style that Quadri uses. If you feel it is working for you then keep trying it. It certainly is an effective ball that he has.
Most players are told to always return to the ready position after every stroke but that might be hurting your game. In this video, we reveal a smarter way to recover:
✔ Track the ball immediately after your shot
✔ Move your racket into position for the next shot instead of blindly resetting
✔ Improve your timing, balance, and flow during rallies
Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, understanding this subtle change can have a big impact on your consistency and speed around the table.
