Footwork

Hello there, I used to have a pretty great forehand when i played at my old table tennis club but i now find that my forehand has gone drastically downhill.

My old table tennis club did not have the proper facilities designed for table tennis and i could get away with sliding my feet when i played my shots, something i probably shouldn't have been doing but did a lot.

are there any drills that i can do away from a table to correct my poor footwork when i play forehand smashes?

Hi Tom,

Footwork is an important part of the game.  You can practice the basic footwork movements without a table or a ball.  You can do the action in a shadow practice.

Take a look at the lesson on Footwork Basics and copy the movements shown there.
