Hello, when I am doing a warm up forehand counterhit drill, my shots always seem to go in the middle of the table and not to the forehand corner, is there something I am doing wrong. Also when I play forehand shots I seem to lean over alot and I am not sure whether this is right or not.

Thanks.

Hi Julyan,

The reason your forehands go to the middle of the table could be a couple of things.

Firstly it could be that you have your wrist back too far on contact with the ball.  Simply push your wrist forward a little .  It will not be a big adjustment.

Secondly it could be that you are hitting the ball a bit late.  Just try contacting the ball a little further in front of your body.  You may need to shorten your backswing slightly to do this.  Again this will not be a big adjustment.  try these two out and let me know if it helps.

You should be quite upright when hitting the ball.  Your head should be directly above your stomach and the middle of the space between your feet.  Take a look at the lesson on footwork to give you a better idea here.
