Hi Jack,
Perhaps the rubber is lifting the all too much. You could try to angle the bat down a little and brush more over the top of the ball. This will keep the ball going forward and dipping onto the court.

With a harder sponge and grippy top you can come over the ball a bit more.
The Chinese are still spinning the ball and brushing it on contact. It may look like a flat contact but they are really ripping the contact.

Hey Alois, i tried closing the bat a little more and coming forward faster but it feels awkward and im not able to loop consistently.
Is it because there is little dwell time with a hard chinese rubber and stiff/hard blade combination or my technique?

Hey Alois, i found this useful video about the chinese forehand loop. It says to brush the ball with a 80-90degree angle of the bat. What do you think about this?

From this video, it seems that Ma Long is getting a rather open contact on the ball but is getting a good arc over to the table. Maybe im not brushing the ball enough?
