Hi Coach,

These days b'coz of regular practice and using your tips from the video, i am getting consistent in executing topspins against backspins.

Although i am confused why sometimes my topspins are so loopy and sometimes they are somewhat flat and fast?

I read in 1 of your answers here, that try to hit the ball on top of the bounce. But how will i give it a full swing of the arm unless it has crossed the table?

Regards Shaji

Hi SHaji,

When the ball is a little higher you can make your swing more horizontal so that you can swing fully and start above the level of the table.  This will allow you to have a full swing.  The ball needs to be high enough to do this otherwise you should let it come off the end of the table and play a slower more vertical topspin.

Thank you Coach.

So if i understand correctly not every topspin shot needs a vertical lift. When the ball is high enough we can give it a horizontal swing for brushing the ball without the lift. I guess those top spins would be more faster than the ones lifted from a lower position from the end of the table.

Yes that is right.  You are still brushing the ball but over the top of the ball rather than up the back of the ball.
