Strokes
After watching both your backhand and forehand drills I tried to apply and incorporate.
i am struggling with both, forehand stopping at the eyebrow and backhand “selfie"… Any ideas?
Hi Jerry,
Great to hear you’re working on improving both your forehand and backhand strokes. It sounds like you're facing some common challenges, but with a bit of tweaking, we can get you on track.
Practice this slowly, firstly just making sure you are finishing both strokes in the correct position. Do it with a slower ball feed coming from a training partner. You could even get them to bounce one ball at a time to you so that you have plenty of time to think about the finish position before returning to the ready position. You can also do this with Shadow Play, that is without the ball at all.
As you start to feel more comfortable with the finish position you can extend this to two balls in a row and so on and then increase the pace of the ball.
You want to use the initial practice to solidify the feeling of where the racket finishes and to see the effect that the correct technique has on the flight of the ball.
If you follow this I think it will improve your technique.
