Game motivation

Mental Preparation

How can I deal with losing my motivation while I'm playing table tennis? I'm not very competitive, but I want to try to help this problem go away if I start playing competitively.
Whenever I'm doing bad during a game, I just get a bit less motivated for each bad swing or hit or serve that i do, and eventually it just spirals out of control and I have 0 motivation to play table tennis. I just give up.

Do you have any tips on how I can keep myself motivated, or how I can re-motivate myself if I get into this spiral?

Hi Timmy,

I think that setting yourself some simple goals along the way will help with your motivation.  Forget about the win and the loss and focus more on the progress you can make and the skills that you can improve. Often the motivation falls when you focus on the results and a result goes against you.  Remember in every game there is one winner and one loser on the scoreboard so that would mean that half the players are beginning that downward spiral.
