Dear Alois and Jeff

Once again many thanks for all that you do for us and table tennis.

I am a 65 year old player. I have for ever used reversed rubbers but I have decided to slow my game down by using a short pimples rubber on the b/hand. I have used this new combination bat for two sessions and, as I expected, there are good things and some bad ones.

I know that I will require an abundant dose of patience to get used to it. However are there any suggestions on the time required to get used to it and any tips on how to use it?

Kind regards

Filippo

Hi Filippo,

The best advice is be patient.  It may take a month or more to get used to the different reaction.  It may take even longer to get used to it in a match situation as under pressure you will go back to your natural reaction.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
