Equipment
Hi Alois,
Do you have a proven way to glue Fastarc G-1 rubber? I have replaced rubbers on blades in the past, and they have been glued on fine. But whenever I have tried the G-1 it has started to lift off the wood within a few days.
I never seem to have any luck with it. Is there a special type of glue I should try? Or an optimum amount to use with this particular rubber?
Cheers,
James
Hi James,
Good to hear from you. I haven't had too much experience with this. Perhaps you can try to put two layers of glue on the blade and also on the sponge. Perhaps others that have share your experience may be able to offer some advice here.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

I've glued two sheets of G1 so far (and one S1, that has a softer sponge), with no problems. The G1 doesn't curve much when you unpack it, unlike some heavily factory-boosted rubbers. As for any new generation rubbers that have sponges with large pores, I only use water-based glue for them (no VOC). One layer on the sponge and one one the blade has always be enough for me. I let them dry before assembling (it's ready when the glue is translucent). I always keep the assembled blade under two dictionnaries for at least half a day, before triming and using the blade, which might help. Also I never seal my blades (I don't want the external wood layer to harden).
