Hard Floor difference?

Hi Alois and Jeff,

I have only ever played on carpet.  I understand that hardfloors are preferred and to some extent why they are better.  I was wondering if there is any difference to movement or feel that would be important to note before playing my first tournament.

 Thanks,

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

The feel of playing on wood or hard floors is very different to playing on carpet.  On carpet there is no give or slide.  I recommend that you try to get a chance to play on a wooden or hard floor before you play the tournament.  Or on the day get there early so that you can have a good hit up and start to get used to the feel.

Mostly though enjoy the tournament and see where you are with your table tennis.  Take a look at the best players there and see what they are doing.  This will be a good leraning experience for you.

Good luck!

The Myth of Trying Hard

If you try too hard you may tighten up and end up with a compromised stroke. If you watch the best players in the World you'll notice their strokes look effortless. Next time you play concentrate on you muscles to see if you are trying too hard and need to relax.
