Hi

I am working on generating more spin in both my serves and strokes but am struggling and wondered whether the bat i am using would effect this, if not then it must be my technique?

My bat is OFF butterfly balsacarbo x5 blade with shriver g2-fx for forehand and tackifire special for backhand

Thanks

Lianne

Hi Lianne,

That combination will enable you to generate a lot of spin.  Take a look at your technique.

Take a look at the contact of the bat on the ball.  Make sure it is a brushing action.  Then make sure it is a fast brushing action.  This applies to all strokes you are trying to generate spin with, topsin, chops or serves.

Really focus on the contact to start with and see if you are contacting the ball properly.  Go away from the table and see if you can get the ball to curve around and come back to you.  Then relate the feeling you get when the ball does curve a lot or come back to you.  This is the type of contact you are looking for to generate spin.

I hope this helps.
