Serving
Coach, I currently use a forehand tomahawk serve which moves the ball from right to left on the table. From my wind up position I can change my serve into more of a pendulum serve which moves from left to right. These are the only two serves that I use during play (I do vary the amount of speed and spin during play). Would it be better to have more techniques and use different serves during play or is one or two enough?
Hi Derek,
One or two are usually enough. I would think more about getting these two serves even better with more spin and more deception with them.

For forehand tomahawk serve, if you're a right hander, it is better to place the ball near or at opponent's backhand side, because the ball spins anti clockwise, the ball will tend to fly off the table more easier making your opponent hard to receive. If you place it at your opponent's forehand side, what if you made a mistake and the spin on the ball is not strong enough it will come to your forehand side. Although saying forehand side is usually stronger than backhand, but if your forehand is not really consistant yet, try to take my advice :D

Xariuz, You should always be expecting a return of your service, no matter how good your serve is, someone will get it back.

I know, so everytime if I do a reverse pendulum i wait my opponent to receive. Once he receives, I start my third ball attack
