How can I attack on short balls

Sir,

one of my friend plays very short. And when I return them the ball gets too much of bounce and he smashes the ball and the ball passes like a bullet and I lose a point. He gets many points by doing it.

Please help me.

Hi Nikhil,

You have two options here.  YOu can get your push stroke lower and with some more backspin.  This will make it more difficult for him to attack the short ball.

The second alternative is to use the Forehand Flick or Backhand Flick strokes.  When done well, this is more of an attacking stroke and may stop them from gaining the first attack.
