H Muhsin,

Firstly good on you for getting started in Table Tennis.  You certainly have ambition which is a big part of getting better.

The main things for you at this stage are to make sure you develop your technique correctly.  Then it is a matter of getting as much good quality training as you can.  If you haven't already joined a club find your closest club.  Then if you can try to work with a coach that can help you with your technique.

Play some competitions as well because actual game play is invaluable for finding out where you can improve.

Good luck and we would like to hear how you progress.

Hey, don't take this the wrong way! but where do you live?. because I know a great place for you to get high level coaching that will improve your game dramatically if you live in the UK (in the East- Anglia region to be exact!).

These guys live in Norwich and they do coaching for £15 an hour (but if you don't live in the uk and you live in sone other country with a different currency, I don't know what the price would be converted into that currency), which is quite a bargin considering your paying for both the lessons and table hire. Their called 'The Twins' and they are both level 3 coaches in table tennis and have been coaching for 20 years. They do their coaching at the Norman Centre on Mile-Cross Centre in the Miller Hall.

If you want to find out more about them or have any enquires about the coaching, then you can call them on this number:-

If you are serious about wanting to become a professional, then you are going to need to know how to plan out your practice sessions. If you buy Pingskills DVD called 'Training Secrets Revealed', it teaches you how to do exactly that and plus, it gives you some footwork/match drills to improve your game.

In order to win matches, your going to need to know how to serve at ahigh level. I recommend the DVD by Pingskills called, 'Serving Secets Revealed', this will teach you how to serve with all sorts of different spins and how you can produce more spin by showing you what sort of contact you need to put on the ball and how the speed of the paddle through the ball will put more spin on the ball. This DVD will also teach you how to a wide variety of different types of serves so you can choose one that will best suit you.

Also, if you look at the lessons section of this websites, Alois Rasserio and Jeff Plumb will teach you how to do all sorts of different strokes. I suggest you start with the basics. These are; backhand/forehand counter hit and backhand/forehand push. Once you've really mastered the technique of these basic strokes you can then move onto the more advanced strokes and maybe move onto improving your footwork by doing the footwork drills that are mentioned in one of Pingskills DVD's, 'Training Secrets Revealed', but only when you've mastered the basics first!!! (you can tell if you've mastered a stroke by being able to return 100 ball consecutively, without making a mistake back on the oppenents side of the table without thinking about it!).

I hope this helps you

Hey, thatnks for the compliment!!! :)

Well, guys?!?, what do you think of that idea?!?, will you consider it?!?, I'm free to do it!!!, you don't need to pay me anything if it affects anything that you need to do (i.e doing more lessons, making more DVD's etc)

Hi Piers,

Thanks for the offer. We love to receive feedback (especially positive stuff) regarding PingSkills and our website. We however aren't really in the position to hire anyone at the moment.

We love Table Tennis and we love promoting the game and trying to help people improve their Table Tennis. So if anyone out there finds PingSkills useful we'd love for you to spread the word!
