Hi Yash,

You need to ensure you have a good bat with a grippy rubber. The grippy rubber will help you to spin the ball. Once you have your equipment sorted you need 2 things:

1) a fast contact

2) a brushing contact

Although it sounds simple it is quite a difficult skill to be able to swing the bat fast and still hit the ball with a fine brushing action. In addition to this you need to be able to control the ball so you can both serve the ball short when required and long and fast when required.

So make sure you practice a lot. Every time you play you should try and get some service practice in.

To begin with you could try stepping away from the table and just concentrate on getting as much spin as possible. Not having to keep the ball on the table can help free up your action to ensure you have a fast contact. Once you get the right feeling you can move back to the table and try a real serve.

Try out these suggestions and let me know how you get on.

I get the most spin on serves from hitting a backhand chop. The backspin generated generally creates a lot of trouble for my opponent.

That is good Jordan. It will also confuse your opponent if you can mix up some heavy backspin chops with some that have less backspin.

I often practice serves onto my bed or on the carpet to see how well the ball spins. I also have a batch of balls that I have marked with perm marker up so I can better see how they spin in the air and on the bed/carpet. Even though the height of the bed isnt the same as a table you can work on consistancy by working on hitti g the same spot with spin and that will translate onto the table. So if you have a good grippy bat then you will really see how much it can spin.

But to give credit where credit is due I got the idea to start thinking outside of the box from watching some of the free videos on this site. To get even more detail on how to create various spins on serves you can order Serving Secrets Revealed. I have purchased it and highly recommend it. I has upped my game tremendously.
