Hi Alois, I had my first session with the LP tonight. I found it really difficult, you have to generate all your own spin its like playing with cardboard. As oppose to Tenergy where it does all the work for you. I was wondering how to get heavy backspin chop consistently as when I did it they were mostly no spin/ light backspin making it easy for the opponent to attack.

Thanks

Tam

Hi Tam,

You can't generate your own spin with the long pimples.  You are relying on the spin that comes from your opponent.  If they give you a heavy topspin you will be able to return it with heavy backspin.

You do have the option of twiddling and using the inverted rubber on your backhand if you want to generate the spin yourself.

Tactics Against Penhold Players

When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
