Hi Alois and Jeff!

one of my friends is able to loop the ball with very high speed and very spiny. while my loop or topspin is more stable than his, but it is slower, less spiny and easily blocked by my friends.

I always using chops to prevent him from using loop (forcing me to become defender)

Any ways can help me to increase my topspin ball speed?

Hi Byron,

To increase the speed of your topspin, you can think about two things.

Firstly, look to get your swing faster.  So with the same swing as you have now, just get your arm moving faster so that the contact of the bat on the ball is faster which will give you a faster shot.

Secondly, you can make the contact a bit flatter.  This will increase the speed of the ball but it will reduce the safety in your stroke because you will be getting less topspin.

If you are looking to keep the shot safe then just increase your swing speed.

Anticipation

How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
