How to overcome lack of motivation!

Last weekend was so annoying in many ways. I lost the four matches (out of six played) in my mind before the points were lost. I was getting more and more frustrated with myself as the matches went on.
It seems as we progress in this sport, more and more of it is in the head; even the technical side. No matter how well you can play the strokes, if your mind won't let them come out, they're not going to happen! That's me at the moment. Then the trouble is, I lose total motivation and then I start to lose interest
How do you overcome this ? Have you guys been there?
Thanks

Hi Andy,

Everybody has been there.

If you are getting negative images of the strokes, stop hitting for a while or watch some better players hitting.  This will reinforce the better images.

A  lot of the game is in the head.  Training is a good time to start to reinforce good routines.  By developing a good routine between pants and between games you are going to be able to minimise those negative thoughts that go through.  Occupy the mind with other things and it won't have time to wander to those negative places.  This allows the body to do what it knows how to do already.  It doesn't forget how to play a stroke.  That is just us getting in the way of ourselves.

After one good session, motivate will improve again.  The best players are the best players because they train through these types of things.  As I said at the start everyone has been there, believe it not, even Ma Long.
