Maintaining my skill

Hi Coaches,

So unfortunately due to study commitments, i have decided to stop table tennis training for probably a year :/.

However, since i still enjoy playing the sport I'm going to continue playing the local pennant, some state competitions and school competitions. (I'm state level for AUS)

I think i am a player that gets a very negative effect when im not training (ie get a lot worse after no playing for a week or two).

Since i may still have time for one or two training sessions every few weeks, what are the best ways to maintain my level of play while only have a limited time to train?

Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Mat,

Focus on doing some random drills and serving and return of serve.  If you can maintain that the hitting will come back very quickly when you are back in full training.

Also spend a little time watching the better players when you are at home.  This doesn't take any travel time and will maintain the good images in your head.  You will be surprised how little you lose after a period of not playing.
