Hi,

I am Sufyan from saudi arabia. I am playing table tennis for about 6 to 9 months.I have this problem in picking a smash. Whenever a smash comes i cant flick it well to hit it on the table. Either it goes out of the table or it hits the net. So what should i do. Should i chop the ball from bottom or make my bat flat

Please guide me

Hi Sufyan,

You need to hit the ball flat for a smash.  If you hit under the ball it will fly long often.

Take a look at the lesson we have on the Smash.  I am sure it will help you with some ideas.

Hi I am Anthony Logan from Colorado, USA. When i am play table tennis with my sister, she always hits the ball wide. I then have to run around the table to get it on, then she hits it to the other side. I cant ever get a good shot off! She also hits it hard and low. But on the serve if i try to do that she can just use her long arms without having to get in a bad position. Is there a type of serve or hit to counter that?

Hi Anthony, Try serving the ball short so that she can't get a good swing at the ball. The other option is to develop your serve with spin so that she has trouble controlling where the ball goes on her return. Also if you serve the ball deep and to the middle she has less angle to work with. Try to get the first attacking stroke in and she will have more difficulty moving you around.
