Can you give me a few tips on how to play against the pips players?
Hi Tony,
If you are talking short pips, then it is a matter of adjusting to the ball coming through flatter and with less spin.
If it is long pimples, you need to remember that the pimples will give you back the opposite spin to what you gave. SO if you topspin then it will come back with backspin. It is a matter of hitting a lot more balls against these rubber to get used to them.
Take a look at the lesson on the Effects of Rubbers. This will also help you.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Hi Alois,
I've adopted the strategy of chopping deep to the pips player, then attacking with topspin whatever comes back. This has been working nicely against both long and short pips. It makes the pips player grumpy, and that's 1/2 the fun! ;). Cheers.
